Hyderabad, Jan 4 (UNI) The city police on Tuesday denied permission to BJP National President J P Nadda to take part in the candle-light rally planned by the party here this evening to protest against the arrest of the party's Telangana unit Chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
The city police maintained that Mr Nadda was not granted permission to take part in the rally in view of the COVID-19 protocols.
The BJP President, who had already condemned the arrest of Mr Kumar saying it was the murder of democracy, is expected to arrive in the city this afternoon, according to sources.
The Karimnagar District Court , it may be recalled, remanded the BJP state Chief to 14-day judicial custody on Monday after rejecting his bail petition.
The state unit of the party has planned protest rallies for 14 days in view of Mr Sanjay's arrest and his judicial custody.
Mr Sanjay who represents Karimnagar in Lok Sabha and four others were arrested by the police on Sunday on charges of causing hurt to the public servants to deter them from their duties and attempting to hold "Jagarna Deeksha" in defiance of the prohibitory orders promulgated to prevent spread of COVID-19.
