APCC Vice-president condemns hurling stones on Chief Minister

Vijayawada, Apr 14 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Vice-President Kolanukonda Shivaji condemned the stone hurling incident in which Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy suffered a minor injury, and at the same time, the Congress leader expressed doubts on the incident.
Talking to the media here on Sunday, Shivaji said such violent incidents are detrimental to democracy. All democrats should condemn the incident. The right to vote should be used as a weapon to teach a lesson but violent incidents should not be carried out in a democratic nation, Shivaji stated.
Significantly, the APCC Vice-president raised doubts about the stone pelting incidents and recalled that people of the state still remembered what happened to the case of an attack on Jagan Mohan Reddy with a knife in Visakhapatnam Airport when he was the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly about six years ago.“I demand the ECI to transfer the DGP, Intelligence Chief, and Commissioner of Police of Vijayawada for their failure to provide adequate protection to the Chief Minister. I demand the ECI to order a comprehensive investigation by either the CBI or NIA on the incident. The offenders must be punished in the incident and the facts should come out,” the Congress senior leader said.
