VIMUKTHI urges AP CM to provide welfare schemes to human trafficking victims

Vijayawada, July 25 (UNI) VIMUKTHI, a forum of survivors of Human Trafficking in Andhra Pradesh, urged Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to take steps to provide the benefits of welfare schees to the human trafficking victims.
In a letter to the Chief Minister on Monday, VIMUKTHI said that in accordance with the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) report, AP had been placed in 3rd position in Human Trafficking in India.
“Since there is no proper implementation of rehabilitation services and welfare schemes in place, many a number of rescued women and children are continuing in prostitution as there is no alternative option for them. There are nearly 1.25 lakh women are leading a pathetic life in prostitution in the state as per the data of Andhra Pradesh State AIDS Control Society”, the VIMUTHI explained the Chief Minister.
