BJP, Cong battle for supremacy as Karnataka prepares for crucial LS polls

Bengaluru, April 25 (UNI) Karnataka is on the cusp of a pivotal electoral contest as the state braces for parliamentary elections to 14 out of its 28 seats this Friday. The state has become a focal point for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress party, and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS)-led NDA alliance, setting the stage for an intense political battle.
For the BJP, Karnataka represents a vital gateway to South India. A strong showing in the state could bolster the party's national standing and challenge perceptions of its influence being predominantly in North and West India. Securing a significant number of seats in Karnataka would further consolidate the BJP's footprint in the southern region, broadening its political reach across the country.
In contrast, the Congress, currently holding power in Karnataka, aims to leverage its stronghold in the state to propel its national political agenda forward. A favourable electoral outcome in Karnataka would not only reinforce Congress's position locally but also invigorate its broader national strategy.
