Karnataka: Women's slippers have worn out to avail Gruhalaxmi scheme: Bommai

Gadag, April 12 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's tirade against the Congress government's alleged lack of development initiatives and financial mismanagement took a poignant turn as he highlighted the plight of women attempting to avail benefits under the Gruha Laxmi scheme.
He claimed that the scheme's inefficiency had led to the wearing out of women's slippers as they repeatedly visited banks in hopes of accessing its benefits.
"Ask any woman, how many of them got the benefits and how many haven't got them. Every month, women visit banks to avail benefits under the Gruha Laxmi scheme. Doing so, their slippers have worn out," Bommai said addressing an election rally, underscoring the frustration and hardships faced by women who are reliant on government welfare programs for support.
