Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 7 (UNI) Kerala reported 22 deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday whereas 10,606 people tested positive newly to the virus, 6,161 patients have recovered from the disease and 92,161 are under treatment, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.
"Of those diagnosed today, 9,542 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection was not traceable in 741 cases. 98 healthcare workers were among those infected by the virus," the Minister said in a press release.
Meanwhile, 22 recent deaths were confirmed as being caused by Covid taking the death toll in the State to 906. The deceased were identified as Mohanakumar (60), Safia Beevi (74), Xavier (90), Sankaran (74), Murugappan Achari (74), Leela (59), Jainamma (66), Fathima (65), Manikuttan (47), Jayan (43), Jagadamma (74), Dasan Nadar (90), Kamaluddin (70) & Ahmed Basheer (71) from Thiruvananthapuram district, Kannan (88) from Kollam district, Basheer Kutty (67) from Alappuzha district, Jhansi Joseph (54) from Idukki district, and Fathima (56), Abu (76), Hamsa (77), Pathumma (75) and Hamsa (80) from Malappuram district, she added.
