Kerala reports 15 COVID deaths, 2,885 new '+' ve cases: Health Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 12 (UNI) Kerala reported 15 deaths due to COVID-19 on Saturday whereas 2,885 persons tested positive newly, 1,944 patients have recovered from the disease and 28,802 patients are under treatment, Health Minister KK Shailaja said this evening.
"Of those diagnosed today, 2,640 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection of 287 was not traceable. 42 are returnees from abroad and 137 from other states. 55 healthcare workers were also infected by COVID," the Minister said in a press release.
She also confirmed 15 deaths due to COVID. The deceased are Francis Joseph (84) and Varghese (58) from Thrissur district; Bhagavati (78), James (76), Padmanabhan Potty (101), Ruhiya Beevi (76), Isha Beevi (72) and Vijayalakshmi Amma (88) from Thiruvananthapuram district; Kadishabi (73), Abdul Latheef (56) and Muhammad (67) from Kozhikode district, Humsa (65) and Khadeeja (45) from Palakkad district, Maideen M K (60) from Ernakulam district and Kuttu (88) from Malappuram district. This takes the Covid related death toll in the State to 425.
