Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), Nov 21 (UNI) A fire destroyed the scaffolding erected around the Raja Gopuram (Temple Tower) of Sri Badrakaliamman Temple at Sivakasi here late on Sunday.
Official sources said here on Monday that the temple tower was undergoing renovation works in view of consecration.
A huge scaffolding was put up around the tower to enable the workers to carry out renovation works.
Fire crackers burst during a domestic function ignited the fire.
Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services department personnel rushed to the temple and doused the fire.
No one was injured in the fire accident.
Sivakasi police have registered a case and are investigating.
