No substantial evidence of enticing voters: Siddaramaiah tells Karnataka HC

Bengaluru, Apr 3 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, represented by Senior Advocate Ravivarma Kumar, reiterated before the Karnataka High Court that there is no substantial evidence supporting the claims that the Congress election manifesto constituted bribery to lure voters during the 2023 elections.
The case stems from an election petition filed by a voter against Siddaramaiah's election from the Varuna assembly constituency. He argued that the Congress party's election manifesto, which included five guarantees, amounted to bribery and undue influence as per Section 123(2) of The Representation of the People Act.
Prof Kumar, representing Siddaramaiah, strongly refuted the allegations during the court hearing and pointed out errors in the petition, including misspelling the name of the Chief Secretary to the State government, and argued that such mistakes undermine the credibility of the allegations.
