Neha murder: Protest continues until accused is hanged, says Bommai

Haveri, April 22 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and BJP candidate for the Gadag-Haveri Lok Sabha constituency, Basavaraj Bommai, has vowed to continue protests until Neha Hiremath's killer is hanged according to the law.
Speaking at a protest rally in Haveri, Bommai expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing police investigation and the conduct of the state government, despite Neha's father, Niranjan Hiremath, being a Congress corporator.
"Despite Niranjan Hiremath being a Congress corporator, after observing the conduct of the state government and the statements made by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, he has expressed mistrust in the ongoing police investigation," Bommai said.
The former CM also highlighted other incidents of violence against women in various districts, questioning the government's commitment to maintaining law and order. He suggested that there might be a larger conspiracy targeting women of a specific religion behind these incidents.
"We are with the student agitation. What is presently going on is a fight between 'Jan Shakti' (People's Power) and 'Power Shakti' (Political Power). Ultimately, it's the victory for 'Jan Shakti'," Bommai added.
Calling for an impartial investigation into the case, the senior BJP leader demanded that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure justice. "The case should be handed over to the CBI for an impartial investigation. The accused should be hanged. Until then, our protest will continue," he added.
Bommai asserted that the murder was not an isolated incident but a reflection of deeper social issues plaguing the nation. "How the accused stabbed her to death in broad daylight shows that he was not acting alone. This incident is a result of a larger social issue," Bommai said.
The former CM criticised the current government's response to the incident, accusing them of washing their hands off the matter by merely tweeting about it. He called for a thorough probe into the incident and urged the government to wake up and take necessary action.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage and protests across the state, with demands for justice growing louder. UNI BDN CS1846
