Bengaluru, July 18 (UNI) The Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Thursday taken a decisive action in response to a controversy at GT World Mall, ordering its closure for seven days following a dispute over attire.
The incident unfolded when Fakeerappa, an elderly farmer, was denied entry into the mall despite having tickets to watch a film with his family. His attire, consisting of a dhoti, kurta, and pagadi (turban), was cited as the reason for refusal, sparking widespread criticism and debate.
Speaking on the issue in the Assembly today, Karnataka Minister of Urban Development and Town Planning, Byrathi Suresh, announced the temporary closure of GT Mall as a penalty.
