NSAI urges central govt to take immediate price corrections on cotton seed prices

Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) In wake of the government's decision on cotton seed prices, the National Seed Association of India (NSAI) on Monday urged the government to engage in meaningful dialogue with industry stakeholders and take immediate corrective action to align seed prices with the increasing costs and demands of cotton farming.
The association remains committed to collaborating with the government to secure the long-term sustainability of India's cotton seed sector, said NSAI President Dr. Mandava Prabhakar Rao in a statement here.
Expressing deep concern over the recent decision by the government to only marginally increase the price of Bt cotton hybrid seeds for the upcoming Kharif season (2024–25) by Rs 11 per packet to Rs 864/pack, he said this decision, falling substantially short of industry expectations, poses significant challenges to the seed companies and threatens the supply of quality seeds to farmers across the country in the future.
