Paddy, cotton crops damaged in floods in 152 villages in East Godavari: AP Minister

Kakinada, Sep 16 (UNI) Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation Kurasala Kannababu has said that standing crops of paddy and cotton in 152 villages spread over to 26 mandals in East Godavari district were damaged due to heavy rains and floods during past two days.
He told media persons here on Wednesday that 11,108 hectares of paddy and cotton crops and 496.6 hectares of horticulture crops were damaged and the enumeration of losses was yet to be completed due to large scale inundation of crops at several places.
He said the preliminary estimates showed that the standing paddy crop in 10,798 hectares, cotton in 310 hectares was damaged.
