Covid : Govt bans all cultural, special progs for Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations in UT

Puducherry, Aug 11 (UNI)The government has banned all cultural and other special programmes for Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations in the Union Territory in a bid to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
District Collector Dr T Arun in an order on Tuesday said that erection of idols in public places, public processions and religious congregations on ground of Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations is strictly prohibited.
No new idols are allowed to be set up within the temple premises and erection of Shamianas and housing of idols in front of both private and public temples are prohibited.
