AP CM asks officials to create awareness among farmers on smart meters

Vijayawada, Oct 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to create awareness among the farmers that new electricity metres would not burden them and would be helpful for supplying nine hour free power to farmers during daytime.
During a review meeting on the power sector held here on Monday, the Chief Minister said that it should be widely publicized that not a single rupee of burden would be put on the farmers with the installation of smart meters.
The motors would give data on consumption and required load of feeders and the data on consumption of electricity could be logged every 15 minutes with the help of meter which would help for the hassle free supply of nine hours power to the farm sector, the Chief Minister said, informing that the Government would directly credit the money into the farmers' bank accounts for the power consumed by them so that they could pay the bills to the DISCOMs.
