Chikungunya Arthritis: Follow these tips to Recover from Chikungunya Arthritis Naturally

New Delhi (India), April 10: Chikungunya arthritis is a condition stemming from the chikungunya viral infection that often leaves individuals grappling with persistent joint pain and inflammation. This disease is highly transmitted in the rainy season through the infected mosquito. It's one of those mosquito-borne diseases with extremely unpleasant symptoms that might be challenging to cure. The symptoms usually start to appear on day four of the mosquito bite and sometimes even after 12 days.

As per Ayurveda, Chikungunya Arthritis is a condition caused by a Vata dosha disorder. It is a result of the chikungunya virus affecting the body's immune system which leads to the production of toxins (ama). These toxins accumulate in the lining of the joints and result in pain and inflammation giving symptoms that are similar to arthritis.

A person with chikungunya arthritis may experience:

·         Fever

·         pain and inflammation in the joints

·         Rashes

·         Muscle ache

·         Headache

·         Chronic fatigue

·         Complications of the gastrointestinal tract

·         Rare cases of Eye, neurological, and cardiac problems.

The above-listed symptoms will usually appear in two to six days after the mosquito bite. However, medicines won’t help heal people. To make them function, a nutritious diet is equally essential.

The natural remedies help in treating chikungunya arthritis symptoms along with boosting the body’s immune response and encouraging overall well-being. Therefore, here are few tips to recover from Chikungunya Arthritis naturally:

Hydration:

·         Staying Hydrated helps in flushing out toxins from the body, maintains electrolyte balance, and supports the body's natural healing processes..

Adequate Rest:

·         The immune system becomes stronger to fight against the virus while the body is in the position of rest, alongside reducing joint discomfort. It also gives the body the energy it requires to focus on healing damaged tissues.

Epsom Salt Bath:

·         A warm bath with Epsom salts may help in relaxing muscles and ease joint discomforts if any.

Gentle Exercise:

·         Light exercises such as walking or yoga might help you preserve joint flexibility. One must avoid high-impact activities since they might cause joint strain.

Massage:

·         Massages using natural oils, such as coconut oil, may assist in increasing circulation and alleviate joint discomfort.

Ayurvedic therapies

·         Ayurvedic therapies like Abhyanga (oil massage) and Swedana (sweating therapy) can prove to be effective treatments.

Stress reduction practices

·         Inflammation in the joints might worsen with ongoing stress. One must more focus on performing stress-reduction techniques such as mindfulness and getting enough sleep to support a healthy immune response for healthy well-being.

Mind-body practices

·         Practicing meditation, Yoga, and deep breathing aids in managing stress, which directly impacts overall health and quick recovery.

Herbal Supplements:

·         Regular use of Ayurvedic herbal remedies including ashwagandha, triphala, and guduchi helps individuals stimulate their immune and provide pain-relieving effects.

Dietary adjustments:

·         Protein Sources:

·         lean protein sources like beans, lentils, and tofu are essential for muscle repair and overall recovery.

Avoid Processed Foods:

·         Minimizing the intake of processed foods, sugary snacks, and beverages as they can contribute to inflammation and may hinder the recovery process.

Anti-inflammatory rich foods:

·         Food items such as citrus fruits, strawberries, guavas, bell peppers, spinach, ginger, turmeric, walnuts, and flaxseeds are known for their immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties.

Ayurveda is an ancient medical approach that focuses on balancing doshas, regulating digestion, cleansing the body, and promoting overall health. This treatment method involves the use of herbal medicines, dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes, and therapies like Abhyanga and Swedana. Ayurvedic remedies should be tailored to a person's constitution and unique imbalances. Ayurvedic beliefs emphasize the interdependence of physical and mental well-being, and tailored assistance from skilled practitioners can assist individuals in reclaiming optimal health. Dr. Sharda Ayurveda's Chikungunya arthritis Ayurvedic treatment focuses on the core cause of the disease and improving an individual's immune system, ensuring positive and lifelong prevention from recurrence and severe symptoms.
