New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) The Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day on Monday following continuous uproar by the Opposition Members over suspension of eight MPs.
Soon after the House reassembled at 1200 hrs, after fourth consecutive adjournments of the day, Vice-Chairman Bhubneswar Kalita told the Opposition Members that the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Gulam Nabi Azad will be allowed to speak first on the issue but after all the suspended members leave the House.
The agitating Members continued sloganeering against the Government demanding revocation of the suspension order.
"I am allowing LoP to speak on this issue but before that, the House should be order as this was not the first time that naming of the members have been done. In the past also, it has happened", Mr Kalita said, adding that as per the rule, the suspended Members should leave the House immediately.
The repeated requests of the Chair to put House in order, to follow the rules and Covid protocol too, fell on the deaf ears of the protesting Members, Mr Kalita adjourned the House for the day.
