New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday predicted moderately scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall over the Western Himalayan Region from March 11 to 14, with peak intensity on March 13.
The weather department also predicted isolated to scattered rainfall over adjoining plains on March 13.
“Under the influence of Western disturbances, isolated to scattered moderate rainfall and snowfall are very likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during March 10–12,” the IMD said.
“Fairly widespread to widespread moderate rainfall is expected over the aforementioned regions on March 13 and a reduction in intensity thereafter,” it said.
The MeT department said, “Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are also likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on March 13 and over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on March 13 and 14.”
“Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan on March 13,” it said.
An isolated thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and winds gusting up to 40 kmph is likely to prevail over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on March 13, the IMD said.
The weather department further predicted very likely rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh from March 10 to 16.
Isolated to scattered moderate rainfall and snowfall is very likely over North East India during the next few days, it said.
Hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next 3 days, and Kerala and Mahe during the next 2 days, the IMD added.
