New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asserted that the law and order situation improved in Tripura after the BJP got power, and the 'double-engine' government has brought innumerable developments in the state.
"Law and order situation improved under the BJP-led government in Tripura. Earlier, there was insurgency, blockade, drug and arms trafficking. Now, under the leadership of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, the state is progressing towards development in various sectors including connectivity, agriculture and sports. Tripura is progressing on three Ns- Niyat (intention), Niti ( policy) and Niyam (principle)," Shah said, while virtually addressing the Statehood Day celebrations of Tripura, in presence of the CM.
Highlighting the various initiatives taken by the 'double engine' government, the Home Minister said the government has carried out developmental works in various sectors to make Tripura gateway of North East (NE).
In the coming days, Tripura will get huge investments because of waterways connectivity with Bangladesh, Shah said.
Lauding the Biplab Deb-led government for its crackdown against drug trafficking, the Home Minister said,"There is a decline of 26 per cent in serious crime under the ruling dispensation."
Taking the opportunity, Shah attacked the previous Left government in the state and said,"Communist regime left no effort to make Tripura a backward state. The government neglected development of the state."
"Their main aim was only to attack opponents. In two decades, more than 450 BJP workers were attacked and many lost their lives," he added.
Talking about 'Lakshya 2047' , a vision document of the state government for the next 25 years, which was launched on the occasion, Shah said,"It is not just a booklet, it is hope and aspirations of the people of Tripura. It will help to make Tripura 'Aatmanirbhar' (self-reliant)."
He also appealed to the people of the state to contribute for the development of state as well as the country.
Recalling the contribution of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, Shah said he laid the foundation of Tripura's development in every filed.
On the occasion, he also remembered others who contributed for the state's development besides remembering Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Home Minister further said after the Narendra Modi government came to power, it has stressed on the development of infrastructure of North East.
"Earlier, NE was known for corruption. The funds allocated from Delhi did not reach to the public. But, now under BJP's regime, it is used for development," he said.
