New Delhi, Apr 19 (UNI) Indian Naval Ship Suvarna while on surveillance patrol in the Arabian Sea, seized around 300 Kgs narcotics worth Rs 3000 crore from a fishing vessel.
The fishing vessel was held for the thorough search following the suspicious movements noticed by the Indian patrol ship and the said boat with its crew was escorted to the nearest Indian Port of Kochi, Kerala for further investigation.
“This was a major catch not only in terms of the quantity and cost but also from the perspective of disruption of the illegal narcotics smuggling routes, which emanate from the Makran coast and flow towards the Indian, Maldivian and Sri Lankan destinations”, the Indian navy said in a statement on Monday.
