New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) In a verdict which could have far reaching consequences, the Supreme Court on Monday ordered removal of 2-finger test from study materials in medical colleges, after saying that the unscientific invasive method of examining rape survivor retraumatises sexually assaulted woman.
"Two-Finger Test" in rape cases and warned that persons conducting such tests will be held guilty of misconduct. It is regrettable that "two finger test" continues to be conducted even today," a bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud and also comprising Justice Hima Kohli, said, while restoring the conviction in a rape case.
Justice Dr Chandrachud, also said, "It is patriarchal and sexist to suggest that a woman cannot be believed when she states that she was raped merely because she is sexually active."
