New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a report from the Senior Superintendent of Police of UP's Etah district over the alleged suicide by a teenager who was arrested on charges of drug possession, a statement said on Thursday.
Taking congnizance of a complaint, that a 15-year-old boy, unable to bear the torture of being sent to a jail as an adult on charges of drug possession, had allegedly committed suicide when released on bail after three months in Etah on September 21. The Commission has asked the UP police to submit its inquiry report within six weeks.
The rights body said the complainant had alleged that the teenager arrested by the Etah police in connection with drug possession was sent to district jail instead being produced before a Juvenile Justice Board.
