New Delhi, Jul 14 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) has demanded that the Government should reduce the GST on sanitiser in view of Coronavirus pandemic.
CPI National Secretary Atul Kumar Anjan in a statement said that all newspapers, including Government advertisements on electronic media in the country, promoted use of face masks and sanitisers by people to prevent spread of Coronavirus. In addition, doctors repeatedly advised people to wash hands with soap and use sanitiser frequently.
He said many manufacturers of sanitisers in the market were also resorting to publicity mechanism to sell their products. Today, sanitisers were being utilised on a large-scale from cities to small villages. The imposition of 18 per cent GST on sanitisers was a huge burden on ordinary and poor people, who were being deprived of its use.
