Highest numbers of candidates, MPs, MLAs quitting parties are from Congress: Report

New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) Maximum number of candidates and elected representatives who changed their political party and fought an election again since 2014 belong to the Congress, a report said on Thursday.
The National Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 1133 candidates and 500 MPs/MLAs, who changed parties and re-contested elections held during the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections since 2014.
According to their analysis based on the affidavits submitted by the candidates prior to the elections (2014 to 2021) and by-elections conducted in the intervening period, 20 per cent of all such candidates left the Congress party.
