Nirbhaya executions plea nears finality

New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed Nirbhaya case death row prisoner Vinay Kumar Sharma's petition challenging the Presidential decision to reject his mercy plea.

A bench of Justices R Banumathi, Ashok Bhushan and A S Bopanna said the authorities had considered all relevant aspects and documents before the rejection.

"There is no merit in the petition," ruled the bench.

Apex Court also found no merit in Vinay Sharma's plea that he suffered from mental illness and said the general medical condition of the condemned convict showed that he is stable.

New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved elevation of Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG), Gujarat as Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG(N)) under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY).

CCEA approves upward revision of interest subvention under DIDF

New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday gave approval for upward revision of interest subvention from "upto 2 per cent" to "upto 2.5 per cent" under the scheme Dairy processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF)with the revised outlay of Rs 11,184 crore.
