NIA raids across 7 states in Bengaluru prison radicalisation case

New Delhi, Mar 5 (UNI) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out raids at multiple locations across seven states in connection with its case related to radicalisation of prisoners by a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist in Bengaluru.
A total of 17 locations across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Punjab, Gujarat and West Bengal were raided this morning.
During the raid, the NIA recovered 25 mobile phones, 6 laptops and 4 storage devices along with various incriminating documents, cash and currency notes from various countries, an official statement said.
In January, the NIA had filed a charge sheet against eight people in the case. The charge-sheeted accused included T Naseer of Kerala's Kannur, who has been serving a life sentence in the central prison in Bengaluru since 2013, and other accused include Junaid Ahmed alias "JD" and Salman Khan.
T Naseer, a life imprisonment convict and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, is accused of radicalising several individuals within the Bengaluru central prison, instigating them to carry out terror attacks in the country.
The case, which pertains to the radicalization of inmates at Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Prison by a LeT terrorist, was originally registered by the Bengaluru City Police following the seizure of arms and ammunition, including 7 pistols, 4 hand grenades, one magazine, and 45 live rounds, along with 4 walkie-talkies.
Further investigations in the case are underway.
