New Delhi, April 6 (UNI) A Delhi court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia till April 18 in an Enforcement Directorate (ED) case.
Sisodia is in judicial custody and was produced in the Rouse Avenue Court before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja.
The former Delhi deputy chief minister was first arrested by the CBI on February 26 and by the ED on March 9 last year respectively. He was denied bail by the trial court, Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court in both cases.
The Supreme Court had also dismissed Sisodia's review petitions against the denial of bail. His curative petitions have also been dismissed.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh (out on bail) also appeared in the court during the proceedings in Sisodia's case.
Lawyer for BRS leader K Kavitha also made a mentioning of their case. Advocate Nitesh Rana mentioned yesterday's order allowing CBI to question Kavitha in judicial custody.
Rana said that CBI's application was not provided to them and that he has filed an application against yesterday's order. He urged the court to take up his application as the CBI was likely to question Kavitha anytime. The court said the matter will heard on being listed.
Senior Advocate Vikram Chaudhary argued for Kavitha virtually through Video Conferencing. The court asked Chaudhary under what section the application was moved. "You've to convince the court about the provision which entitles you to the relief you've asked for. You're saying there is no provision but you're relying on a judgment?"
CBI's lawyer sought time to respond to Kavitha's application. The court then listed Kavitha's application for April 10 at 12 pm for arguments.
The court then started hearing a second bail plea moved by Manish Sisodia. Special counsel Zoheb Hossain appearing for the ED informed that Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur has already made submissions in the ED case.
Advocare Hossain argued that the main thrust of their argument was on delay in trial. They have not touched much on the merits and have made arguments on the judgment of the Supreme Court.
Manish Sisodia's bail pleas were listed for hearing at 12 pm but was not taken up till 2.30 pm. The hearing on bail application of Sisodia will continue on April 8.
