New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party's second list for the crucial Gujarat polls released on Saturday include 19 new faces and among them are 13 Scheduled Tribe candidates and two belonging to Schedule Caste community.
Out of the 36 names released on Saturday evening, a majority of the BJP candidates are those who would
contest elections on the seats which were won by the Congress party in the 2012 assembly polls five years ago.
The list has at least 18 names of candidates who have been given tickets to contest against sitting Congress
members of legislative assembly, party sources said.
The party had announced names of 70 candidates on Friday and thereby making it 106 candidates for elections to the 182-member Gujarat Assembly to be held in two phases on December 9 and 14.
In the first list, the state's ruling party gave tickets to 49 sitting MLAs, including 16 ministers. Patidar and OBC nominees also figured heavily.
