Govt approves 33 pc representation of women in CAPFs
New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) Home Minister Rajnath Singh today approved 33 per cent posts at constable level to be filled up by women. This is in view to enhance the representation of women in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). According to an official statement, 33 per cent reservation of women constable posts would be in CRPF and CISF and 14-15 per cent posts would be in the border guarding forces that is BSF, SSB and ITBP. These would start immediately and the reservation would be horizontal, the statement said. The Committee on Empowerment of Women in its Sixth Report (Recommendation No 84) of the (2010-11) had recommended urgent need to provide due representation to women in paramilitary forces.
