LS Polls to be held in 7 phases; polling starts 19 April, counting on June 4

New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) Polling for 543 constituencies for the 18th Lok Sabha will be held in seven phases beginning 19th April to 1st June, the Election Commission said on Saturday.
Announcing the schedule for the Lok Sabha, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that counting of the votes will be on 4th June.
Along with the LS election, schedule for elections in four state assemblies -- Sikkim, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh has also been announced by the Election Commission.

"Polling in the second phase of General Elections 2024 which commenced at 7 AM today simultaneously across 88 PCs recorded an approximate voter turnout of 60.96% as of 7 PM," apex poll body Election Commission of India (ECI) said in a media release.
