New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) The Election Commission on Tuesday categorically denied that there was any pressure on them by any political party as counting of votes in the Bihar assembly elections was on.
The EC said results of 146 out of 243 seats had been declared till now,
the Election Commission said on Tuesday.
Deputy Election Commissioner Chandra Bhushan Kumar said at a press conference here that about an hour
ago, there was a post by a party on social media which claimed that their party had won 119 seats.
'Total results declared till now are of 146 seats and it is the factual situation which is available in public
domain,' he said.
Election Commission Secretary General Umesh Sinha said the poll panel has never worked under anybody's
pressure.
Earlier in the day the Election Commission said there had been 'glitch-free counting' of votes so far in the elections. 'There has been an absolutely glitch-free counting process so far and no issues have
come up,' Deputy Election Commissioner Chandra Bhushan Kumar said at a press conference.
He said the counting is not slow and is going at its normal pace. However, since but the number of EVMs as well as the postal ballots had gone up the counting is expected to go late into the night because of Covid protocols,.
'We have close to 63 per cent increase in polling booths in view of Covid protocols. Counting is taking place at 55 locations,' he said.
The poll panel clarified that EVMs are 'robust and tamper-proof'.
The ruling alliance is likely to retain power in the state as the trends so far in the three-phased elections show.
Counting of votes for 243 Bihar assembly election is underway.
The 69-year-old three-term incumbent Nitish Kumar and 31-year-old Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD are
the main contenders for the Chief Ministerial post.
Bihar witnessed the polls in three phases on October 28, November 3 and November 7 and the voter
turnout in the Bihar assembly election was at 57.05 percent.
