New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Army Chief General MM Naravane on Saturday said the Army did not discriminate on any grounds including gender, and wondered why the Army 'lagged behind' in allowing women in the National Defence Academy.
However, there are no plans at present to allow women to enter combat branches of the Army, the Chief said.
At the India Today Conclave 2021, asked about the Supreme Court decision that paved the way for women's entry in the NDA, the General said, "As the armed forces we do not discriminate on any grounds, language, religion or gender. As far as the question of admitting women is concerned, we have never had any reservations on that."
