New Delhi, Jun 21 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday greeted the nation on the occasion of the sixth International Yoga Day.
Taking to the micro blogging site twitter, Mr Shah expressed that Yoga is a medium of establishing harmony between the body, mind, actions and thoughts, and also between the human being and nature.
He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his efforts got international acceptance and recognition for Yoga, which is a precious gift to the human kind from Indian culture, and today the entire world has accepted it, he added.
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended their message to the people on the occasion.
Both the President and the PM highlighted the importance of Yoga in improving one's life.
The President said that it helps to keep the body fit and mind serene, which is very important as we fight the pandemic, and PM on the other hand laid emphasis on the immunity and strength building qualities of Yoga which is crucial in fighting the contagion.
Mr Modi also pointed out a very important part of Yoga which is Pranayam , the breathing exercise , which he said held ultimate importance with reference to the current scenario, as it helps bolster the respiratory system, which is targeted most by the COVID-19 virus.
