New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) India on Friday said a constant 'vigil' is being kept along international border at Doklam sector and the existing mechanism between between India and China is working properly.
"We are keeping a constant vigil on the developments which have a bearing on Indian security and taking necessary steps to safeguard it....The two sides do have and have used established mechanisms to resolve any mechanisms" MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here.
He reiterated that there is no change in the status quo between the two countries at the Doklam sector. He also said government has made its position clear on Media reports over the matter.
India on Thursday firmly asserted contrary to reports in a section of media the status has "not been altered" at the Doklam sector.
"The government would once again reiterate that the status quo at the face-off site has not been altered. Any suggestion to the contrary is inaccurate and mischievous," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters in response to media queries.
He said government's attention to media report has been drawn on the situation in Doklam and maintained that even earlier "the government had stated that there was no basis" for suggesting anything in contrary.
It is interesting to note that media reports have cited new satellite images to say that the infrastructure put on by China in the sector included a “full-fledged” military base.
Meanwhile, Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat has said that the Chinese military has carried out only a “mostly temporary” buildup in Doklam sector.
Asked to comment on the same, MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar, however, said, as an official of the Ministry of External Affairs it will not be appropriate for him to comment anything on what the Army chief has said.
