BJP's claim of highest growth rate based on ‘bogus’ numbers produced by Niti Aayog: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) Dismissing the claims by the NDA Government at the Centre of having achieved the highest growth rate, senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Saturday said that the BJP's claim was based on ‘bogus’ numbers produced by Niti Aayog.
In a series of tweets, Mr Chidambaram said,’’ The BJP's claim of 'highest growth rate' under NDA is based on the bogus numbers produced by Niti Aayog.
Those numbers have been rejected by every economist and statistician of repute.’’
The senior Congress leader said that the CSO numbers that were published earlier and the NSC Committee on Real Sector Statistics numbers released in August were the only ones that have credibility.
‘’UPA 1 years (2004-2009) were the best growth years since Independence and in fact the best ever,’’he said.
