SAD activists, Punjab farmers detained after protesting in front of Krishi Bhawan

New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) Around 70 protestors, including leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal and farmers from Punjab were detained by the police from outside Krishi Bhawan in Delhi on Thursday, after they continued the agitation, despite being told not to do so, in the wake of COVID-19 guidelines.
As per police, when the protestors did not listen to them and continued with their dharna, they were removed from the spot and 70 of them were taken to the Police Station Mandir Marg, and were later released.
An FIR has been registered in this regard under section 188 IPC, section 3 Epidemic Diseases Act and others against the protestors, the police said.
The SAD activists had gathered outside the Krishi Bhawan on Thursday and staged their protest over the new farmer reform laws.
The protest was led by SAD leader Bikramjit Singh Majithia and Youth Akali Dal leader Rumana, demanding roll back of the new farmer laws.
The SAD, over the differences on the Farmer Bills, moved away from the coalition and Harsimrat Kaur Badal had also resigned from the Union Cabinet.
