Rob Zombie’s 'The Munsters' brings back 60s American sitcom horror family

Rob Zombie’s 'The Munsters' brings back 60s American sitcom horror family

Los Angeles, June 9 (UNI) Heavy metal singer and horror director Rob Zombie is back to the silver screen with a decidedly more family friendly fare this time, as he comes to direct the reboot of the popular American sitcom, “The Munsters”.

For the unversed, the American sitcom dealt with a monster family living like your average American family and was created as a satire of traditional horror films as well as the American suburban life and the family era of the time.

Dropping a teaser for the upcoming feature, it begins with an accurate recreation of the classic intro from the black and white television series, before bringing the beloved characters into the world of living colour.

Jeff Daniel Phillips is leading the cast of the horror-comedy revival as Herman Munster alongside Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, Richard Brake, Sylvester McCoy, Jorge Garcia, Catherine Schell and Elvira actress Cassandra Peterson.

Last June, Zombie announced he would be writing and directing the project, telling fans, “Attention Boils and Ghouls! The rumors are true! My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress!”

In the months since, he has given numerous updates on his Instagram account, including behind-the-scenes photos, as well as location and costume updates.

Rob Zombie is the writer, producer and director of the 2022 reboot film and in stark contrast to his previous directorial efforts, the film will carry a PG 13 rating.

The film will be released this fall by Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production arm of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group that develops and produces films for worldwide distribution across all non-theatrical platforms.
