CPM alleges tribals in Tripura cheated a second time under BJP

Agartala, Mar 8 (UNI) Opposition CPM reacted sharply over the joining of the second largest party of Tripura assembly, TIPRA Motha, in BJP-led government in the state on Thursday and said innocent tribals were cheated for the second time in six years in the hands of the saffron party.
Talking to media here on Friday, CPM’s tribal wing Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) leader Radhacharan Debbarma alleged that the TIPRA Motha party is heading towards the same path that led IPFT to a low death’ under BJP. The IPFT had been fighting for a separate Tipraland since 2000 and finally joined the BJP-led government with positive hope, but today IPFT is almost dead.
“The swearing-in ceremony of two TIPRA Motha MLAs as minister, fast-unto-death agitation last week, and frequent Delhi tours of the ruling party and TIPRA Motha leaders reminded us of the whole episode of IPFT's prolonged agitation that finally ended through an agreement and joining BJP’s government in 2018. Now IPFT is on the verge of extinction. The same plot was staged once again by TIPRA Motha,” observed Debbarma.
