Two former BJD MLAs quit party ahead of Assembly elections in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Mar 29 (UNI) The ruling BJD in Odisha on Friday suffered a jolt when two of its former MLAs resigned from the primary membership of the party.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and five-time MLA Dhaneswar Majhi who was elected to Odisha Assembly from Narla (ST) seat thrice in the past and twice from Kesinga Assembly seat had tendered his resignation from the primary membership of BJD.
Majhi was elected twice as a Swatantra party candidate in the 1971 and 1974 Assembly elections from the Narla Assembly seat and also twice from the Kesinga Assembly seat as a BJP candidate in the 2000 and 2004 Assembly elections.
