Mizoram gears up for intense battle as Lok Sabha elections approach

Aizawl, Mar 25 (UNI) As the countdown to the Lok Sabha elections begins, Mizoram finds itself amid fervent political activity, with major parties rolling out their campaign machinery to secure the lone Mizoram Lok Sabha seat.
Scheduled for polling on April 19 as part of the initial phase of Parliamentary general elections, all the political parties have drawn battle lines by nominating their candidates.
The ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has nominated Robert Vanlalhmangaiha, a relatively lesser-known figure in politics, but harbours hope of a resounding victory. Riding on the wave of popularity garnered from its recent triumph in the state Assembly polls, ZPM appears confident in its electoral prospects. With historical data indicating a favorable trend for ruling parties in Mizoram's Lok Sabha seat, ZPM exudes assurance despite the opposition's rallying efforts.
