Kolkata, Aug 29(UNI) "I act on a script of one book that is Indian Constitution," said West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday.
Addressing the UGC issue, the Governor said, "Supreme Court has given judgment on UGC guidelines. Supreme Court has upheld the UGC guidelines and taken a stand after keeping all the parameters in mind. The verdict said that there will be no promotion without the final examination. Taking the consideration of the peculiar covid situation the highest court stated if any state government feels that they are unable to meet the deadline under the UGC guidelines they can approach for an extension. I think once the Supreme Court gives their statement that binds us all."
Talking about the step taken by some chief ministers on the UGC issue, Dhankar said, "It is their judgment on view. I will react only to the extent we must all be in compliance with the Supreme Court judgment. I know only one book that is the Indian Constitution. I act on a script of one book that is Indian Constitution.
