Arunachal: Another jolt for Cong as one more MLA switches to BJP

Itanagar, Mar 4 (UNI) Toeing the lines of his fellow legislators of his party, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader in Arunachal Pradesh and MLA from Mebo constituency, Lombo Tayeng, joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, expressing his allegiance to the Saffron party’s leadership.
With this latest development, the grand old party now has only one MLA, former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, who heads the State Congress party.
It is worth mentioning that the opposition Congress received a major jolt on February 25 last year when two of its four MLAs—Ninong Ering from Pasighat West in East Siang and Wanglin Lowangdong from Borduria-Bogapani assembly seat in Tirap district—jumped to the Saffron party ahead of the upcoming general elections. Alongside them, two of the four NPP lawmakers, Mutchu Mithi (Roing) and Gokar Basar (Basar), had also shifted their loyalty to the BJP.
