Odisha: Noted devotional singer Shantilata Barik Chotray passes away

Bhubaneswar, Apr 2 (UNI) Noted Odia Bhajan singer Shantilata Barik Chhotray, suffering from cancer, passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Monday night.
She was 65. Shantilata is survived by husband and son. Shantilata was a popular household name in Odisha for her devotional songs mostly on Lord Jagannath and other gods and goddesses.
Born in Nimapada region in 1958, Shantilata was a student of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya and she further learnt music from legendary gurus like Balakrushna Dash, Markandeya Mohapatra, Singhari Shyamsundar Kar, and Gopal Panda.
