Jharkhand 'launching pad' for big schemes meant for poor and tribals: PM

Ranchi, Sep 12 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today described Jharkhand as the 'launching
pad' for big schemes meant for the poor and tribals in the country.
Addressing the people after the launch of Pradhanmantri Kissan Mandhan Yojana, Pension Scheme for small shopkeepers and self employed, 462 Model Eklavya Schools in the country, he said whenever there is a discussion on schemes related to the poor, the name of Jharkhand will be discussed the most.
He said he managed to visit Jharkhand among the few states after being elected for the second time and recalled that it was the same venue of Prabhat Tara grounds where he had participated in the World Yoga Day Function a few days back.

The Prime Minister said that it was in September last year the world's biggest health care scheme Ayushman Bharat Yojana was launched from Jharkhand and now another major scheme the Pradhanmantri Kissan Mandhan Yojana is being launched from the land of Bhagwan Birsa Munda alongwith the pension scheme for retailers and self employed in the entire scheme.

He said that first his government started the pension scheme for the workers of the unorganised sector which was being followed by pension schemes for farmers, retailers and self employed so that all those who have a greater role to play in nation building do not have to face problems during their old age.

The Prime Minister who also inaugurated building of the newly constructed Vidhan Sabha and dedicated to the people the country's second riverine multi model port terminal at Sahibganj, said that the project will give a new identity to the state in front of the nation and the world. Mr Modi said that Sahibganj port was a very important part of the Benaras-Haldia National Waterways One and will help the state to connect with other parts and open new doors of development for the people of the area.

Mr Modi said that with this port the products of the state will be able to reach the North East and will also be creating job opportunities for the people. He said that from progress and environment point of view this Waterway will be beneficial for the people as cost of transportation through water is less than that on the road and will prove to be advantageous for both the producers and the buyers.
