HNLC claims responsibility for Shillong blast

Shillong, Mar 14 (UNI) Banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), on Thursday claimed responsibility for carrying out an IED blast at the Harijan Colony here on the night of Saturday last.
“We claim responsibility for the IED blast at them metor on the night of March 9th. The Budnar Shadow Squad (BSS), which operates as the special forces of the HNLC, was responsible for carrying out this blast. The MDA government and the police department were shocked to discover that our team was able to commit such an act in a high-security area,” the outfit’s general secretary-cum-publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said.
In an e-mailed statement, Nongtraw claimed that the militant out “did not intend to harm civilians or innocent lives, hence restraint” and demanded from the government the withdrawal of CRPF troopers from Harijan colony to ensure the freedom of movement for our Hynniewtrep people in the area.
