Two more COVID-19 casualties, 139 fresh cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, Oct 16 (UNI) Two more COVID-19 related deaths in Meghalaya pushing the fatality count to 75, while 139 fresh infections took the number of active positive cases to 2,492 on Friday, health officials said.
On the other hand, 90 more patients recovered from the viral infection, taking the number of recoveries to 5,735 in Meghalaya so far, the official said.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that two COVID-19 patients including a 72-year-old woman Merilyn Pakyntein and 65-year-old woman Wailin Syiemlieh succumbed to the viral infection on Thursday and Friday respectively.
