Assam COVID tally crosses 40,000

Guwahati, Aug 1 (UNI) The COVID 19 tally in Assam has breached 40,000, while the number of recovered patients has also gone past 30,000 in the last 24 hours.
Altogether 1862 new cases of COVID 19 positive were detected in the state in the last 24 hours, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed.
Over 200 new cases were reported from Kamrup (metro) and Kamrup (rural) districts, while Cachar, Nagaon, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur and Jorhat also accounted for more than 100 cases each.
On the other hand, the number of recovered patients also grew steadily with 1277 discharges during the last 24 hours taking the number to 30,357.
The death toll in COVID 19 also rose by four yesterday and now stands at 98.
The number of active COVID 19 positive cases in the state currently is 9811.
