Meghalaya records highest voter turnout in its electoral history for any LS polls

Shillong, Apr 20 (UNI) Meghalaya recorded an overall voting percentage of 76.60 percent turnout, the highest voter turnout in its electoral history for any Lok Sabha elections in the state.
Meghalaya has two Parliamentary seats - Shillong and Tura. The Shillong parliamentary seat spreads over 36 Assembly segments, covering Ri-Bhoi, Khasi-Jaintia Hills, While Tura seat consists of 24 Assembly segments in the entire Garo hills region.
Out of the 76.60 percent voters’ turnout, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.D.R.Tiwari told UNI on Saturday that Shillong Lok Sabha constituency recorded 73.78 per cent and Tura Lok Sabha constituency 81.37 per cent.
