Bihar : Congress has great hopes for its veteran leader Tariq Anwar in Seemanchal region

Katihar, Apr 22 (UNI) The veteran leader Tariq Anwar who is in the fray on the ticket of Congress, a constituent unit of the Grand Alliance ( GA) from the Katihar Parliamentary constituency for the 13th consecutive time and had represented the seat five times in the Lok sabha, is all set to face the outgoing JD(U) MP Dulal Chandra Goswami who is in the battleground as JDU candidate of NDA.
Considered to be a hot seat of the Seemanchal region, Katihar which shares borders with West Bengal is one of the least developed districts of Bihar. Rivers like Kosi which is known as the " Sorrow of Bihar" Mahananda, Ganga, and other local rivers have been playing havoc in the district reeling under perennial flood menace in want of a master plan to protect the populace from floods. Unemployment and migration still were major issues in the constituency where religion mostly became the dominating factor in elections.
Anwar, for whom Katihar is his "Karmabhoomi" as he had embarked upon his political journey from here after senior Congress leader Sita Ram Kesri handed over this seat to him in 1977 was leaving no stone unturned to win the seat where polling is slated for April to 26. The Congress party is also hopeful of opening a ground for it in the Seemanchal region with the help of Anwar who is facing tough challenges posed by the outgoing JDU MP Dulal Chand Goswami.
