Assam: Thirty eight candidates file nomination for first phase of LS polls

Guwahati, Mar 27(UNI) A total of 38 candidates have filed their nomination for the first phase of the Lok Sabha poll in Assam.
According to the office of the State Election Officer, a total of 26 candidates filed 47 nominations on Wednesday, the last day of filing nominations for the first phase of elections to five Lok Sabha seats on April 19. Nine candidates filed their nominations for Kaziranga, seven for Sonitpur, five for Lakhimpur, one for Dibrugarh and four for Jorhat.
The ruling BJP candidate Tapan Gogoi from Jorhat, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa from Kaziranga and Ranjit Dutta from Sonitpur were among those who filed their papers during the day.
